sportsbettingThe American Gaming Association (AGA) have thrown their weight into the campaign to legalize Sports betting in New Jersey in supporting the American Sports Betting Coalition.

Currently sports betting is only allowed in four states in the US, those being Nevada, Delaware, Montana, and Oregon however the new campaign wants Congress to repeal the 1992 law that prohibits sports betting outside those states.

Governor Chris Christie has attempted to have the ban overturned and failed but with the AGA and their lobbying efforts behind the efforts hopes are high it might just happen this time.

“We are partnering with local and state elected officials, law enforcement and other diverse interests to tell Washington to get out of the way,” said Geoff Freeman, president and chief executive of the American Gaming Association. “Regulated sports betting is what fans want and sports integrity demands.”

It is hoped by allowing New Jersey casino operators to offer sports betting it will help turn around falling revenues.
