Developer Deeley Freed is working with a French casino operator on plans for the square, which would also involve a boutique hotel and four new restaurants, reports thisisbath,co.uk. Developers behind a £25 million casino, hotel, restaurant and shops scheme for Bath have come up with plans to part-pedestrianise a key city centre area.

OVERWHEMLED by a flock of 5,000 eager gamblers, the opening of Ohio’s first gaming haven, Horseshoe Casino Cleveland, on Monday night was a success. The general manager, Marcus Glover, asked the tuxedo and gown crowd that got the first chance at the slots to be considerate of dealers. “They’re very nervous. Be a little patient with them,” he said. The 1,600-employee casino capped the initial turnout to keep new dealers from being overwhelmed by the crowd.

A REFUND of $31 million paid on complimentary means for gamblers and employees has been denied by the Nevada Tax Commission. Commissioner David Turner said the decision of the administrative law judge should be upheld, rejecting the petition of Caesars. Commission Chairman Bob Barengo indicated an appeal to the court would probably be made. After the decision, he told Caesars lawyer Norman Azevedo, “I understand you will want to appeal.” Azevedo declined comment after the hearing.

TORONTO is the latest target for Las Vegas Sands Corp. in its casino-resort push. It comes in response to Ontario’s government’s push to land a new casino in the area. Officials from the company, which owns resorts in Las Vegas, Pennsylvania, Macao and Singapore, were in Toronto recently scouting the waterfront, including Exhibition Place, but were turned away from the closed Ontario Place grounds; two independent sources told the Star.
